HomeGuard Privacy Policy

What Data HomeGuard Stores

HomeGuard stores the following data locally on your device only:

• Home name and address
• Room names
• Item details (name, category, brand, model, part numbers, cost)
• Maintenance event history (dates, descriptions, costs)
• Reminder schedules
• Photos you attach to items

All data is stored in an encrypted SQLite database (SQLCipher) on your device. The encryption key is stored in your device's secure Keychain and never leaves the device.

What Data We Collect

None. HomeGuard has no analytics, no tracking, no telemetry, no crash reporting, and no server-side components. We literally cannot access your data.

Data Transmission

HomeGuard does not transmit any data over the internet. The app functions entirely offline. No internet connection is required for any feature.

The only time data leaves your device is when you explicitly choose to export it via the JSON export feature, which uses your device's native Share Sheet.

Third-Party Services

HomeGuard does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

If you purchase HomeGuard, the transaction is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store any payment information. Apple's privacy policy governs that transaction.

Device Permissions

HomeGuard may request the following device permissions, each of which you can deny or revoke at any time in iOS Settings:

• Microphone — Used for voice commands to log maintenance events hands-free. Audio is processed on-device by Apple's Speech Recognition framework and is not recorded or stored.
• Speech Recognition — Used to convert your voice to text for voice commands. Processed by Apple's on-device speech engine.
• Camera — Used to photograph warranties, model plates, receipts, and other references. Photos are stored locally on your device only.
• Photo Library — Used to attach existing photos to items. Photos remain on your device.
• Notifications — Used to send local maintenance reminders. Notifications are scheduled locally and do not involve any server.

Children's Privacy

HomeGuard does not knowingly collect any information from children. The app does not collect information from anyone — it stores data locally on the device only.

Data Retention and Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device:

• You can delete individual items, rooms, or events at any time within the app.
• You can use "Reset All Data" in Settings to erase all app data.
• Uninstalling the app removes all data permanently.

We have no backups of your data. If you delete it, it is gone. We recommend using the JSON export feature to back up your data periodically.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever change this privacy policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. Given our local-only architecture, meaningful changes are unlikely.
